To paint or not to paint, part 2 {Blogtoberfest day 6}

Bad blogger, bad blogger, I'm so naughty I didn't post yesterday :( I have a good excuse though, I was absolutely buggered after working a full day (well doing placement for my child care course).So I apologise for my lack of post, promise I do!

Now, do you remember this post? Well I have FINALLY made the decision and went ahead and painted the sucker! It only took me 2 months (exactly)!

So what do you think? It's pretty cute (and not a chevron in sight ;))

All I did was clean the pot with dish soap and a clean pot scourer to get any oil or dirt off to give the paint as clean as possible surface to adhere to. Then it was just a matter of spraying with a whilte gloss spray paint. I used plasti-kote projekt paint in a super gloss in white blanc.

I had to do a few coats, also because I'm a grade A clutz I put my finger right in the wet paint, but fortunately I was able to spot paint it a couple of time and you can hardly tell I did it!

I love how it turned out, better than I expected actually! I am going to store my knitting needles in it as I don't want to risk getting it wet (by using it as a flower vase). I am also considering maybe getting some thing to rub over it a dark paint perhaps to bring out the details of the little mushrooms. Not 100% convinced on that yet.

I would love to hear your thoughts, did you prefer it before or now, do you think I should use something to get bring out the features or leave well enough alone? What should I use? Let me know!

In other news I just want to direct your attention to a lonely little widget I have on my blog. To paint or not to paint.

I found this wee vase at a local trash and treasure a few months back, cost me all of $1, I fell in love with the 'shrooms, thinking it would fit in ever so nicely with my woodland theme addiction I am currently working on. What I didn't fall in love with is the curry/mustard brown/yellow glaze which adorns it.

My first thought was to paint white but then a little voice said, um hello it's glazed, you can't paint over glaze, a little googling pretty much brought me to the same conclusion, unless I wanted to go the trouble of having it fired again which could ruin it which is something I didn't want to happen. But I just don't know if I can live with the colour, so it has sat on my desk where I stare at it most of the day while working trying to like the colour and it is growing on my but still now 100% convinced.

What do you think? Do you like the colour, should I keep it with the vintage/retro vibe which comes with it, it is gives of a very 70's vibe. A part of me wants to go at it with some heavy duty spray paint and see what happends but I don't want to ruin it, humph.
