Australia Day 2012

I hope you enjoyed you're Australia day yesterday. For some it's a great day to celebrate the country, it's people and all that it stands for, for some its a day of sadness and reflection, thinking of the Aboriginal people who's lives were changed for ever when some white fella's stole all that was sacred to them, for others it's a day off! What it is for my I'm not sure of. I love being an Aussie but not at the cost of others lives, I'm grateful to have been born in a free country, where there is no war and has equality (to a certain extent). For me Australia day is a day to get together as family eat yummy food and think of all that is.

Here are a couple of snaps from our lunch yesterday.

It was sad that the day was marred by controversy. The Prime Minister being dragged to safety after a protest went awry. But how freaking cute was the bodyguard doing the dragging! Yay for hot security! He doesn't have a name yet, but he's been likened to Kevin Costner from the bodyguard!

Are you patriotic? How do you celebrate Australia's birthday?

Till next time...

I've lost my sewjo

and I can't find it and not sure I want too. I just don't want to sew for a 'living' it doesn't get me excited, fabric on the other had does! I can't wait to start creating my own! I still want to do the grandmothers quilt and will as it doesn't require me to sit behind a machine for hours, I can do it in my own time, sitting in front of the telly, or on the train. I don't want to do frogs any more, I don't want to make toys, to sell anyway I much prefer digitally creating things (but my confidence in that has been bashed around a bit) I'm lost. I'm anxious for school to start which happens in a few weeks but in the mean time I have to battle with my self esteem.

Have you ever lost your creative juice? Please tell me it returns as I am feeling like it's gone for good!

On a positive note, Eastside Crafters has started back up again and this month we had a new member join our group. It was unfortunate that most of our regulars weren't able to make it but I have been assured they will be back next month! But we all had a good time, I like meeting people who I click with straight away! If you're in the area or are willing to travel I would love for you to join our group! I released the 2012 dates for ESC so make sure you write it down in your diary. If you've been worrying about meeting new people, don't! I'm the shyest person I know and I started the group LOL! Seriously we're all friendly, who love craft and a good chat.

Here's some things I've been working on this week...

Logo's and Facebook page prettiness for my new biz....ATOMIC BETTY. Can you tell I love the late 1950's aesthetic!

Till next time, keep crafting...

setting a crafty goal...grandmothers garden quilt

I'm not one for resolutions because, lets be honest, 99% of people don't keep them! I think that resolutions were created by someone in the fitness industry to boost their gym memberships at the beginning of the year! So anywho, I have decided that this year I am going to set myself on major craft related goal, I am going to make a grandmothers garden quilt. I actually stared one years ago, spent hours cutting out the hexagon templates, actually got 1 flower done, but I think it was just forgotten about. But this year I start a fresh! In exactly 12 months from now I WILL be sharing with you my completed quilt. I'll also so a wee counter on the side of my blog so I can keep track of how many hexies I create!

{source}

I've been getting lots of inspiration on the blogs for my quilt, I love what Retromummy is doing over on her blog.

I will get started this week, because I'm lazy I think I'm going to buy pre cut templates, have you used them? Are they worth it? Or should I just cut my own?

I have a huge scrap stash so will be using them as fabric for the quilt, I may (or will anyway;)) have to buy some extra bits of fabric, just to make sure I have enough :P.

Have you made a grandmothers garden quilt? I would love to see it! Or have you set yourself a craft goal for 2012, would love to hear that too!

Wish me luck as I'm not good at following through with plans, goals, I think I get bored, but this time I will follow through!

Till next time, keep crafting!

PS. Don't forget the first Eastside crafters meet for 2012 is Tue 17th Jan! 7.45pm - 9.45pm. Come to craft and chat!
Check out the ESC page for more info!

Happy 2012! (I know I'm a week late!)

Well I'm finally back on board after the silly (crazy) season! Not a lot of crafting has been happening, I attempted to start the Christmas latch hook kit I bought from spotlight the year before when everything was 50% off, but I didn't get very far!

I've been making some yummy food, one being this scrumptious chicken caesar salad, and it was delish!

(Can you tell I've feel in love with instagram!)

TBPH I'm glad this season is over, it's exhausting!

I have been doing a bit of digi creations, and am going to be taking on design work this year, along with starting my course.

Here's some of the digi things I've created for Little Sew & Sews as well as Stoked Creations

Not long till I start my new course! WOOHOO! And I think I may have decided on a new biz name for both graphic design and screen printing, so stay tuned!

Till next time, keep crafting.
